and D353 Vehicular EnginesReference: See the article "New Tools Available For Installation Of Cylinder Liner Seats..." on page 1 of this Service Magazine.Description of Change: New liner seat inserts with an O-ring seal groove are available for repair of cylinder blocks for the above engines. The new inserts are the same as the former inserts except for the addition of the O-ring groove. The new inserts and the O-ring seals will make a better seal than the former inserts. Also, new water seal ferrules are available. These water ferrules are used with the new inserts to make a seal around the water passages in the cylinder block. The water ferrules also use O-ring seals.
Adaptable To: The new parts are direct replacements for the former parts as shown in Chart A. The new parts are adaptable to the engines shown in Chart B. The new 1W6265 (for cylinders 2, 3, 5, and 6) and 1W6266 (for cylinders 1 and 4) Liner Seat Inserts are adaptable to D353 and G353 Engines. The 1W6267 Liner Seat Insert is adaptable to all D379, D398, D399, G379, G398, and G399 Engines. The 5N8868 and 5N8869 Water Seal Ferrule are adaptable to all engines with the new inserts.
