Clean all parts and inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new Caterpillar parts for replacement.

Use Tooling (A) to install two bearings (22) and spacer (23) to the draft frame. Install the bearings until the bearings are flush with the outside surface of the draft frame.

Use Tooling (A) to install two bearings (20) and spacer (21) to steering link (17). Install the bearings until the bearings are flush with the outside surface of the draft frame.

Use Tooling (B) to install bearing (19) to steering link (17). Install the bearings until the bearings are flush with the outside surface of the draft frame. Repeat the procedure for the other side.

Install retainer (18) to the hitch.

Position steering link (17) to the machine. The steering link weighs 48 kg (105 lb). Install pin (13) that secures steering link (17) to the hitch. Remove the tooling from the steering link.

Connect lubrication line (16) to pin (13) .

Install two yokes (15) to pin (13). Install four bolts (14), the washers and the locks that secure two yokes (15) to pin (13). Install fitting (12) to pin (13). Connect lubrication line (11) to fitting (12).

Install shim (10) to the draft frame.

Position steering link (5) to the machine. The steering link weighs 43 kg (95 lb). Install pin (3) that secures steering link (5) to the draft frame. Remove the tooling from the steering link.

Connect lubrication line (9) to pin (3). Install bolt (7), the washer and the clip that secures lubrication lines (8) to steering link (5).

Install four bolts (6), the washers and two yokes that secure pin (3) to the steering link.

Install bolt (4), the washer and the clip that secures lubrication line (1) to steering link (5). Install fitting (2) to pin (3). Connect lubrication line (1) to fitting (2). End By: Install the steering cylinder. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Cylinder - Remove and Install".
