Introduction
This Special Instruction provides the necessary information required to update the carbody to track roller frame bolts to a larger diameter. Increasing the bolt size allows for higher tightening capability. This update can be made to all 235 Excavators.Do not perform any procedure, outlined in this publication, or order any parts until you have read and understood the information contained within.Reference: Service Manual, and Parts Manual.Parts Needed
Installation
1. Remove the track and track roller frame from one side of the excavator. Refer to the Service Manual for the procedure to use.
(A) Clearance holes. (B) Leg detail. (C) 8H5727 Bolt locations. (D) 5M0544 Bolt locations.2. Drill seven 30.5 mm (1.20 in) diameter clearance holes (A) in the carbody at each leg location (B).3. Drill two holes 25.5 mm (1.00 in) diameter and 125.0 mm (4.92 in) deep in the track roller frame as shown at each leg location (C). Counterbore the two holes 30.5 mm (1.20 in) diameter and 32.0 mm (1.26 in) deep. Tap the holes 1 1/8-7-2B THD, 95.0 mm (3.74 in) deep.4. Drill five holes 25.5 mm (1.00 in) diameter all the way through as shown in the track roller frame at each leg location (D). Counterbore the holes 30.5 mm (1.20 in) diameter and 32.0 mm (1.26 in) deep. Tap the holes 1 1/8-7-2B THD all the way through. Lubricate the bolt threads and washer face with 1E2470 Antiseize before installation.5. Install two 8H5727 Bolts and 3S1349 Hard Washers at each leg location (C).6. Install five 5M0544 Bolts and 3S1349 Hard Washer at each leg location (D).7. Tighten bolts to 1450 100 N m (1100 75 lb ft).8. Perform this procedure to the track roller frame and car body on the opposite side.
