Stopping the engine immediately after it has been working under load, can result in overheating and accelerated wear of the engine components.Refer to the following procedure, to allow the engine to cool, and to prevent excessive temperatures in the turbocharger housing (if equipped), which could cause oil coking problems.
Operate the engine for 5 minutes at low idle with no load. This operation allows hot areas in the engine to cool gradually and will extend the engine life.
Move all control levers into the HOLD position.

Turn the engine start switch key to the OFF position in order to stop the engine. Note: Turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position and remove the key when the machine is left for an extended period.
Do not turn off the battery disconnect switch until the indicator lamp has turned off. If the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) does not purge, DEF could freeze and damage the pump and lines.
