Service Brake Holding Ability Test
Personal injury can result if the machine moves while testing.If the machine begins to move during test, reduce the engine speed immediately and engage the parking brake.
Note: If the power train output or axles begin to rotate during any of the brake holding tests discontinue the test immediately by shifting into neutral and reducing engine speed to low idle to avoid damaging the service or park brake.
Place the direction control switch in the Neutral position.
Apply the left pedal 100%.
Release the park brake.
Activate service brake test function through touch screen display: (a) Select machine icon (b) Select settings (c) Select functions (d) Select service brake test to activate service brake modeNote: Engine speed will automatically increase to 1450 rpm.
Place the direction control switch into the forward 2.0 position.
Apply the right pedal 100%. No ground speed is to be detected. If ground speed is detected, rework may be required to the service brake hydraulic system and brake assembly.
Fully release right pedal.
Move the direction control switch to the Neutral position.
Apply parking brake. Machine will go out-of-service mode active.
Fully release left pedal.Note: If the machine moved during the test, consult your Cat dealer for a brake inspection. Make any necessary repairs before the machine is returned to operation.Park Brake Holding Ability Test
Place the direction control switch in the Neutral position.
Apply park brake.
Activate service brake test function through touch screen display: (a) Select machine icon (b) Select settings (c) Select functions (d) Select service brake test to activate service brake modeNote: Engine speed will automatically increase to 1450 rpm.
Place the direction control switch into the forward 2.0 position or 2F - N - 2F to drive through the park brake.
Apply the right pedal 100%. No ground speed is to be detected. If ground speed is detected, service check will abort and the brakes will need adjustment per service procedure
Fully release right pedal.
Move the direction control switch to the Neutral position.
Apply service brake. Machine will go out-of-service mode active.
