START BY:a) remove flywheel 1. Use tool (A) to remove lip seal (1) from the flywheel housing. When a replacement of the lip seal is made, a new wear sleeve and seal must be installed as a unit. 2. Use two of the bolts (2) that hold the flywheel to the crankshaft to hold the gear on the crankshaft. Put enough 4D3704 Washers on each bolt to hold the gear in position and not damage the threads in the crankshaft.3. Put tool (B) in position in the seal bore as shown.4. Install tool (C) between tool (B) and the wear sleeve. Turn tool (C) until the edge of the tool makes a flat (crease) in the wear sleeve. Do this in two or more places until the wear sleeve is loose.5. Remove tool (B) and the wear sleeve by hand.Install Crankshaft Rear Seal And Wear Sleeve
1. Use 6V1541 Quick Cure Primer to clean the outside diameter of the crankshaft gear flange and the inside diameter of wear sleeve.2. Install tooling (A) on the rear of the crankshaft gear.3. Put 9S3265 Retaining Compound on the outside diameter of the crankshaft gear flange and the inside diameter of the wear sleeve.4. Put the wear sleeve and seal (1) in position on tooling (A). Make sure the lip of the seal is toward the crankshaft gear. 5. Put clean engine oil on the contact surfaces of the installer and nut. Install tooling (B) on tooling (A) and tighten the nut to push the wear sleeve and seal into position.6. Remove the tooling and check the wear sleeve and seal for correct installation.
