Fuel Injection Lines
FLUID SPILLAGE CONTAINMENT Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to "TOOLS AND SHOP PRODUCT GUIDE, NENG2500", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines. Dispose fluids according to local regulations and mandates. 1. Remove bolt, clamps, washers and nut (1).2. Remove bolt, clamps and washers (2).3. Remove two bolts, clamps, washers and nuts (3). 4. Remove tie wraps (4).5. Remove bolt, clamps, washers and nuts (5). 6. Loosen eight nuts (6) and eight nuts (7).7. Remove fuel injection lines (8) as a unit. 8. Install Tooling (A) in the fuel injection line openings.9. Install Tooling (B) in the openings of the fuel injection pump and the valve covers.Install Fuel Injection Lines
1. Remove Tooling (A) from the fuel injection line openings.2. Remove Tooling (B) from the openings of the fuel injection pump and the valve covers. 3. Install fuel injection lines (8) as a unit.4. Use Tool C to tighten eight nuts (6) and eight nuts (7) to a torque of 40 7 N m (30 5 lb ft). 5. Install tie wraps (4).6. Install bolt, clamps, washers and nut (5). Tighten bolts to 9.5 2.8 N m (7 2 lb ft). 7. Install two bolts, clamps, washers and nuts (3). Tighten bolts to 9.5 2.8 N m (7 2 lb ft).8. Install bolt, clamp and washers (2). Tighten bolts to 9.5 2.8 N m (7 2 lb ft).9. Install bolt, clamps, washers and nut (1). Tighten bolts to 9.5 2.8 N m (7 2 lb ft). If replacement lines are installed, always remove the metal identification tags so vibration of the tags will not cause worn through fuel lines.
