Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Hot oil and components can cause personal injury.Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.

Position a suitable container below oil filter assemblies (2) in order to contain the engine oil for storage or disposal. Use Tooling (A) in order to remove oil filter assemblies (2) from oil filter base assembly (1).

Put identification on bolts (3) for installation purposes. Remove bolts (3) that hold oil filter base assemblies (1) to base support (4).
Remove bolts (5) that hold oil filter base assemblies (1) to adapter (6). Remove oil filter base assemblies (1).

If necessary, remove taperlock studs (7) from oil filter base assemblies (1). Remove the gaskets from oil filter base assemblies (1). Installation Procedure

Verify that all of the components of the oil filter base assemblies are clean and free of foreign material prior to installation.
Inspect all components for wear and replace the components, if necessary.

If taperlock studs (7) were removed, apply Tooling (B) to the threads of taperlock studs (7). Install taperlock studs (7) to oil filter base assemblies (1). Tighten taperlock studs (7) to a torque of 80 14 N m (59 10 lb ft). Install gaskets to oil filter base assemblies (1).

Position oil filter base assemblies (1). Install bolts (5) that hold oil filter base assemblies (1) to adapter (6).
Install bolts (3) that hold oil filter base assemblies (1) to base support (4).

Lubricate the seal on oil filter assemblies (1) with clean engine oil. Install oil filter assemblies (2) to oil filter base assembly (1). Tighten oil filter assemblies (2). Use Tooling (A) to turn each oil filter assembly (2) by an additional three quarters of a turn after the seal contacts oil filter base assembly (1).
Check the level of the engine oil. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Engine Oil Level - Check".
