Information:
3300 Series Direct Injection EnginesIt is possible for carbon deposits to make removal of the 8N7001 Fuel Nozzles difficult on 3300 Series Direct Injection Engines. The 6V3129 Nozzle Puller Group or FT1533 Nozzle Assembly Adapter can be used to remove nozzles that can not be removed by hand. The nozzle assembly adapter must be used with the 1P74 Slide Hammer.
6V3129 Nozzle Puller Group. The part numbers shown are serviced parts. The 6V3129 Nozzle Puller Group is easier to use because it can fit into a smaller work space than the nozzle assembly adapter and slide hammer. The nozzle puller group can be used in applications where the nozzle can be removed with a maximum torque on the forcing screw of 17.0 N m (150 lb in). Use of a torque higher than this can cause the stem of the nozzle to break.
FT1533 Nozzle Assembly Adapter. If more force is needed to remove the nozzle, the FT1533 Nozzle Assembly Adapter and 1P74 Slide Hammer must be used. To use the slide hammer, it may be necessary to remove some engine components such as turbochargers, tubes or sheet metal. Drawings of the FT1533 Nozzle Assembly Adapter are available from your Division Service Manager.
Procedures For Use Of 6V3129 Nozzle Puller Group
1. Remove the fuel line, screw and hold down clamp from the nozzle. Do not remove the nozzle bleed screw.
8N7001 Fuel Nozzles on 3300 Series Engine.2. Retract the 6V3127 Forcing Screw until the 6V4007 Button almost touches the inside face of the nozzle puller. Slide the tool at a 45° angle over the nozzle. Put the tool over the nozzle until it fits around the smaller diameter of the nozzle (at the bottom of the nozzle).
Installation of 6V3129 Nozzle Puller Group on fuel nozzle.3. Turn the 6V3127 Forcing Screw until it fits into the hole for the hold down screw.4. Turn the forcing screw to lift the nozzle out of its bore. Use of a torque wrench to turn the forcing screw will make it possible to check the torque. Do not use more torque than 17.0 N m (150 lb in) to turn the screw. Penetrating oil may help loosen the nozzle.
