Remove the tire and rim. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Tire and Rim - Remove and Install".
Remove the brake calipers. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Hydraulic Caliper Service Brake - Remove".
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Remove drain plug (3) and drain oil from the hub assembly into a suitable container. Remove bolts (1) and remove cover (2).

Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to hub assembly (4). The weight of hub assembly (4) is approximately 240 kg (530 lb). Remove bolts (5), retainer (6), the shims, and bearing cone (7). Remove hub assembly (4) .

Remove Duo-Cone seal (8) and bearing cone (10) from spindle (9) .

Attach a suitable lifting device to spindle (12). The weight of spindle (12) is approximately 97 kg (215 lb). Remove bolts (11) and spindle (12) .

Disconnect hose assembly (13) .

Attach a suitable lifting device to housing (15). The weight of housing (15) is approximately 204 kg (450 lb). Remove bolts (14) and remove housing (15) .

Remove Duo-Cone seal (16). Remove bearing cups (17) .
