Caterpillar Machines With 24 Volt Electrical SystemsSUPPLEMENT: 07/11/83SERVICE MAGAZINE, AUGUST 10, 1981, PAGE 3.In the article "Voltage Converter Assembly Now Available," make a note that a 3T1796 Wire Assembly must also be used for installation of the voltage converter.--------------- END SUPPLEMENT ---------------A voltage converter assembly is available for use on machines with a 24 volt electrical system to get a 12 volt power source for operation of optional electrical equipment.
The 9G6981 Voltage Converter Assembly has an output that is rated at four amperes continuous operation. The voltage converter assembly must be connected to a power supply with a 10 ampere fuse.
It is Caterpillar's recommendation that the voltage converter assembly be installed in the operator's compartment. Do not install the voltage converter assembly in the engine compartment or in areas where high temperatures are present.
