(5) Pilot and air conditioner gear pump (air conditioner section) (6) Pilot and air conditioner gear pump (pilot section) (7) Line (outlet for the air conditioner section) (8) Line (outlet for the pilot gear section) (9) Line (inlet)The pilot and air conditioner gear pump is a two-section gear type pump. The pilot and air conditioner gear pump is mounted to the engine cooling fan pump. Splines mechanically connect the pilot and air conditioner gear pump to the fan pump. The first section of the pilot and air conditioner gear pump is pilot section (6) and supplies pressurized oil to the pilot system. The second section is air conditioner section (5) which shares a common inlet line. Air conditioner section (5) supplies pressurized oil to the drive motor for the air conditioner compressor. At full load, the air conditioner sections flow is approximately 36 L (9.5 US gal).

Drive Pump for the Air Conditioner (4) Relief valve (5) Pilot and air conditioner gear pump (air conditioner section) (7) Line (outlet for the air conditioner section)The drive pump for the air conditioner (5) has a relief valve (4) that is factory set to 17240 kPa (2500 psi). The operating pressure is 16900 kPa (2450 psi) for the air conditioner system. Note: DO NOT adjust the relief setting of relief valve (4).

Air Conditioner Compressor (3) Drive motor (air conditioner) (10) Air conditioner compressor (15) Clutch (air conditioner drive)Air conditioner compressor (10) and drive motor (3) are located in the cab sub-structure. Drive motor (3) receives pressure oil from air conditioner section (5) through line (11). The pressure oil causes the drive motor to turn. Drive motor (3) drives clutch (15) through a V-belt drive. An air conditioner switch is located in the operators station. Clutch (15) will engage when the air conditioner switch is ON and the thermostat switch turns on. When clutch (15) is engaged, air conditioner compressor (10) will turn. When the air conditioner switch is turned OFF, or the thermostat switch turns off, the air conditioner clutch (15) will disengage. When clutch (15) is disengaged, air conditioner compressor (10) will stop turning.Motor (3) can overspeed when clutch (15) disengages due to the inertia of motor (3) and clutch (15). During overspeed, motor (3) pulls oil from the oil supply. The pulling of oil by motor (3) can cause cavitation. Makeup valve (12) prevents cavitation in motor (3). Makeup valve (12) passes oil from the return side to the supply side of motor (3).
