Schematic for the Implement ECMThis diagnostic code is recorded when the implement ECM can not communicate with the power train ECM. This diagnostic code is recorded when the power train ECM is not sending all the parameters that are required by the implement ECM. The implement ECM and the power train ECM communicate via the CAT data link.The possible causes for this diagnostic code are listed:
The data link wire has failed.
The software for the implement ECM and the software for the power train ECM are mismatched.System Response:The machine response is listed:
Implements may not be locked out when the engine is being started.
Calibrations for the implement valve may not work due to unavailable parking brake status.
Calibrations for the linkage position may not work due to unavailable parking brake status.
Calibrations for the lever sensors may not work.Note: Ensure that the diagnostic code is active.Test Step 1. VERIFY THE HARDWARE AND THE SOFTWARE PART NUMBERS.
Verify that the following information is correct:
The software part number for the power train ECM
The part number of the power train ECM Expected Result:All part numbers are correct.Results:
YES - All part numbers are correct. Proceed to test step 2.
NO - All part numbers are NOT correct. The power train ECM has the wrong part number.Repair: Flash in the proper software to the power train ECM. Stop.Test Step 2. INSPECT THE HARNESS CONNECTIONS.
Turn the disconnect switch to the OFF position.
Inspect all harness connections that are related to the implement ECM and the power train ECM. Make sure that the connectors are clean and tight.
Check the connectors for proper mating.
Check the wires at the connector.
Check each wire for nicks or signs of abrasion in the insulation.
Check for moisture at the connector.
Check the connectors for dirty contacts or corroded contacts.
Check each pin and each socket of the harness connectors.Expected Result:The harness connectors are tight and free of corrosion.Results:
YES - The harness connectors are tight and free of corrosion. Proceed to test step 3.
NO - The harness connectors are in need of repair. Repair: Repair the harness or replace the harness. Stop.Test Step 3. CHECK FOR A SHORT IN THE HARNESS.
The disconnect switch remains in the OFF position.
Disconnect the harness from the implement ECM and the power train ECM.
At the harness connector for the implement ECM, measure the resistance between contact J1-3 (wire 945-BR) and all other contacts in J-1 and J-2.
At the harness connector for the implement ECM, measure the resistance between contact J1-9 (wire 944-OR) and all other contacts in J-1 and J-2.Expected Result:The resistance is greater than 5000 ohms.Results:
YES - The resistance is greater than 5000 ohms. Proceed to test step 4.
NO - The resistance is less than 5000 ohms.Repair: The harness has failed. There is a short between contact J1-3 (wire 945-BR) and the wire with the low resistance. Repair the harness or replace the harness. Stop.Test Step 4. CHECK FOR A OPEN IN THE HARNESS.
The disconnect switch remains in the OFF position.
The electronic control modules remain disconnected from the harness.
