1. Remove snap rings (2) and remove the pins that hold coupling (1) to the shaft. Slide the coupling away from the gear box. 2. Remove five bolts (4) and remove gear box (3).Install Leaning Wheel Gear Box
1. Slide shaft (2) on to the shaft connected to the leaning wheel control. Put gear box (1) in position on the frame. 2. Install cover (3) and five bolts (5) that hold the box in place.3. Slide coupling (4) on the shaft and install the two pins and snap rings that hold the coupling in place.Disassemble Leaning Wheel Gear Box
start by:a) remove leaning wheel gear box 1. Remove cotter pin (1), nut (2) and washer (3) from the shaft. 2. Slide shaft (6) out of the gear box. Remove sleeve (5) and gear (4) from the gear box. Remove the other sleeve from the gear box. 3. Remove nut (7) and the lockwasher from the shaft. 4. Hit joint (8) with a hammer until gear (9) comes off the taper. Remove gear (9) from the shaft. Remove the key from the shaft. 5. Remove shaft (10) from the gear box. 6. Remove nut (11) and the lockwasher. Remove shaft (10) from joint (8). 7. Remove lip type seal (12). Remove four bearings from the gear box with tooling (A).Assemble Leaning Wheel Gear Box
Make an alignment of the oil holes in the bearing with the oil holes in the gear box when the bearings are installed.
1. Use a piece of bar stock (1) that is 2 in. (50.8 mm) wide by 12 in. (30.8 cm) in length by .75 in. (19.1 mm) thick in a press and install two of the bearings in the gear box as shown. 2. Install bearings (2) and (3) in the gear box with tooling (A). 3. Install the lip type seal in the gear box with tooling (A) with the lip of the seal toward the inside of the housing. Put lubricant that is to be sealed on the lip of the seal. 4. Put shaft (5) into joint (6). Install the lockwasher and nut (4) that holds the shaft to the joint. 5. Put shaft (5) into the gear box as shown. 6. Install key (7) in the shaft. Install gear (8) on the shaft. 7. Install the lockwasher and nut (9) that hold gear (8) on the shaft. 8. While shaft (10) is slid into the gear box, put sleeve (11) and gear (12) on the shaft. 9. Install sleeve (13), washer (14) and nut (15) on shaft (10).
