Information:

Regeneration
The Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) traps both soot and ash. Regeneration is the removal of soot from the DPF. The Aftertreatment Regeneration Device (ARD) is used to regenerate the DPF. The long-term buildup of ash is removed through a manual cleaning process. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Diesel Particulate Filter - Clean" for more information on the service of the DPF. For additional information on the regeneration of the DPF, refer to Systems Operation/Testing and Adjusting.Selective Catalyst Reduction (SCR)
The SCR system is used to reduce the amount of NOx emissions from the engine. The SCR system is used during normal engine operation. The SCR catalyst should not have to be cleaned or serviced. A problem with the SCR system will cause a diagnostic or event code to become active.For additional information on the regeneration of the DPF, refer to Systems Operation/Testing and Adjusting.
