1. Drain oil from the steering system hydraulic tank. The capacity is 22 U.S. gal. (83 litre). 2. Disconnect oil inlet hose (1) that goes from the flow control valve to the hydraulic oil filter.3. Disconnect oil outlet hose (2) that goes to the steering pump. 4. Disconnect oil outlet hose (3) that goes from the steering hydraulic tank to the supplemental (emergency) steering pump. 5. Remove tube assembly (4) from the steering hydraulic tank. 6. Remove two of the bolts from the top of the hydraulic tank and fasten tool (A) to the tank with two 5/6"-18 NC bolts.7. Remove nine bolts (5) and lockwashers from the bottom of the tank and remove steering hydraulic tank (6) with tool (A) and a hoist. Weight of the tank (empty) is approximately 200 lb. (90 kg).Install Steering System Hydraulic Tank
1. Fasten a hoist to tool (A) and put the steering hydraulic tank (1) into position on the vehicle. Use two 5/16"-18 NC bolts to hold tool (A) to the tank. 2. Install nine lockwashers and bolts (3) in the brackets on the bottom of the tank to hold it in place. Remove tool (A).3. Install the brackets on the tank to hold tube assembly (2) in place. 4. Connect supplemental (emergency) steering pump outlet hose (4) to the hydraulic tank. 5. Connect steering pump outlet hose (5) to the hydraulic tank. 6. Connect hydraulic oil filter inlet hose (6) to the flow control valve.7. Fill the steering system hydraulic tank with oil to the correct level. See LUBRICATION AND MAINTENANCE GUIDE.
