Illustration 1 g01554321 (1) Lubricate the bore of the O-ring seal lightly with the lubricant that is being sealed. (2) Before installing the shaft assembly, lubricate the shaft and the bearing bore of the oil drive gear with clean engine oil. (3) Lubricate the thrust plate lightly with clean engine oil. (4) Before installing the shaft assembly, lubricate the shaft and the bearing bore of the shaft assembly with clean engine oil.

Use the following procedure to tighten the bolts of the unit injection hydraulic pump drive:
Tighten four bolts (5) to a torque of 5 3 N m (45 27 lb in).
Install the pin (6) and tighten the pin to a torque of 105 10 N m (75 7 lb ft).
Again tighten four bolts (5) to a torque of 55 7 N m (41 5 lb ft).
