Apply a continuous bead of Tooling (C) onto the mating surface of spindle assembly (8) and labyrinth (10).
Install labyrinth (10) onto spindle assembly (8).
Raise the temperature of bearing cone (9) in order to install bearing cone (9).

Lower the temperature of bearing cups (6). Use Tooling (D) in order to install bearing cups (6) into axle housing (2).

Illustration 4 g01329115Note: One of Bellville washers (7) has a sealing lip. The Bellville washer with a sealing lip is installed into axle housing (2). Do not install the Bellville washer with the lip onto the spindle.
Install Bellville washer and seal ring (7) onto labyrinth (10).
Install the remaining Bellville washer and seal ring (7) into axle housing (10).
Apply a light coat of clean SAE 15W-40 DEO oil onto the face of the seal ring (7).

Use two people in order to install axle housing (2). The weight of axle housing (2) is approximately 27 kg (60 lb).
Raise the temperature of bearing cone (5) and spacer (3). Install bearing cone (5) and spacer (3) onto axle housing (2).
Install the sprocket and the retainer onto the spindle. Tighten the bolt in order to install the sprocket. Fully installing the sprocket will seat the bearing and the spacer. Allow the components to cool and then remove the sprocket.

Use Tooling (E) in order to install seal (4) onto spindle (1).

Install the O-ring seal.
Fill the axle with 0.6 L (0.63 qt) of clean SAE 15W-40 DEO oil.
Replace the drain plug. End By:
Install the axle.
