Test harness for the high coolant temperature protection (C1) 7N-9737 Plug housing. (C2) 7N-9738 Receptacle housing . (R) 1000 Ohm ten turn potentiometer.
Proceed to Testing and Adjusting, "Setpoint Programming". Determine the setpoint for high engine coolant temperature.
Turn the Engine Control Switch (ECS) to the OFF/RESET position.
Disconnect the two harness connectors at the temperature probe. Set (R) to 1000 Ohms. Connect the test harness to the disconnected engine harness connectors.
Start the engine. Depress the "Display Hold Switch" when the engine coolant temperature is displayed. The correct displayed temperature is approximately 88°C (190°F). Note: The indicator for high coolant temperature is activated prior to engine shutdown. Also, the horn on the alarm module will be activated.
Adjust the potentiometer until the temperature reading and the temperature for the setpoint are the same value.
When the temperature reading and the temperature for the setpoint are the same value, the engine will shut down. Check that the gas shutoff valve caused the engine to shut down. Also, check that the indicator for the high coolant temperature on the Status Control Module (SCM) is flashing.
Turn the ECS to the OFF/RESET position.
