Removal Procedure
Remove the turbocharger. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Turbocharger - Remove" for the correct procedure.

Loosen bolts (2) in reverse numerical order. Refer to Illustration 2.Note: Loosening the bolts in reverse numerical order will prevent distortion of the exhaust manifold.
Remove bolts (2) and spacers (3) from exhaust manifold (4).Note: Support the manifold as the bolts are removed.
Remove exhaust manifold (4) from the cylinder head.
Remove gasket (1) (not shown) and gasket (6) (not shown).
If necessary, remove studs (2) from exhaust manifold (3).Installation Procedure Top Mounted Exhaust Manifold

Ensure that the exhaust manifold is clean and free from damage. If necessary, replace the exhaust manifold. Clean the gasket surface of the cylinder head.
If necessary, install studs (5) to exhaust manifold (3). Tighten the studs to a torque of 18 N m (13 lb ft).
Position a new gasket (1) (not shown) and a new gasket (6) (not shown) onto cylinder head. Install Tooling (A) and Tooling (B) to the cylinder head in Positions (X). Refer to Illustration 3.Note: Ensure that the word TOP on gaskets, are outward and upward position.
Align exhaust manifold (4) with Tooling (A) and Tooling (B). Install the exhaust manifold to the cylinder head.
If bolts (2) have been previously used. Thoroughly clean the threads of the bolts. Applied Tooling (C) to the first two threads of the bolts. Tooling (B) should be applied to the first two threads of the bolts.Note: Do not apply Tooling (C) to new bolts.
Install bolts (2) and spacers (3) finger tight.
Remove Tooling (A) and Tooling (B). Install remaining bolts (2) and spacers (3) finger tight.
Tighten bolts (2) to a torque of 44 N m (32 lb ft). Tighten the bolts in the sequence that is shown in Illustration 3.
Install the turbocharger. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Turbocharger - Install" for the correct procedure.
