Remove the differential.
Failure to properly assemble parts or failure to follow established procedures can lead to damage of the parts and assembly.To avoid damage to parts, always identify and mark the parts so that they can be installed in the same location. Ensure that gear surfaces align. Never force parts during assembly.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Remove bolts (1) Remove bevel gear (2) .

Mark differential housing (3) for assembly purposes.

Split differential housing (3). Using Tooling (A), remove bearings (4) and (5) .

Remove lock pin (8). Remove spider shaft (10). Remove relative thrust washers (6). Remove spider gears (7). Remove sun gears (9). Remove thrust washers (11) .

Remove spacers (12) and crush sleeve (14). Using Tooling (A) and a suitable press, remove bearing (13). Remove the shims.
