Using Cat ET To View Keypad System Screens
Keypad System Overview
The Security Keypad immobilizes the Engine, Transmission, and Hydraulic systems of the backhoe loader between the time the key switch is turned ON and a valid passcode is entered. Machine operation is enabled when the correct passcode is entered. The Keypad can be set to operate as a Standalone unit on machines not equipped with a Machine ECM. The Keypad can be integrated to communicate with a Machine ECM on machines that are configured appropriately. To communicate fully with the Security Keypad, Cat® Electronic Technician (Cat ET) version ET2015-A or later must be used. Two LED lights are located on the keypad - one at the top and one at the bottom of the keypad. The LED lights provide the operator with a visual status indicator concerning the operation of the security system. The keypad also emits a "beep" or series of "beeps" to increase the awareness of the operator when necessary. When a warning condition is detected, the audio output sounds a "long beep" and both LED indicators flash RED. The Keypad ECU communicates with the Machine ECM (when equipped) to allow diagnostic codes to be displayed using the Cat ET service tool.Viewing Keypad Parameters in Cat ET
The technician must determine the "Security System Configuration Code" from the status screen in Cat ET for the Keypad ECU before beginning to configure the Keypad ECU. The code is used to determine if the Security Keypad is configured as a "Standalone" or "Integrated" control module. The Configuration Identity Code identifies the type of machines that the Keypad can interface with, see Table 1.The illustrations (below) can be used as a reference to navigate within Cat ET and identify the configuration code for the machine being serviced.
