3. Disconnect air line (1) from the parking brake chamber.4. Release the parking brake with shop air pressure of 70 psi (480 kPa). Remove the cotter pin and pin (4).5. Remove two nuts (3) and lockwashers. Remove brake chamber assembly (2) from the machine. The following steps are for installation of the parking brake chamber.6. Put parking brake chamber (2) in position on its mounting bracket.7. Install nuts (3), and tighten them to a torque of 110 to 135 N m (80 to 100 lb.ft.).8. Activate brake chamber assembly (2) with shop air pressure at 70 psi (480 kPa). Connect the rod end to the parking brake lever with pin (4) and the cotter pin.9. Connect air line (1) to brake chamber assembly (2).10. See Parking Brake Adjustment in Specifications for correct brake adjustment procedures.Disassemble Parking Brake Chamber
START BY:a. remove parking brake chamber
Spring pressure is present inside the brake chamber. To prevent serious personal injury, follow the instructions carefully.
1. Use a plate from tool group (A) and a press to put the support cover under compression. Remove bolts (2), and the sleeve. Remove support cover (1) from cylinder assembly (3).2. Remove the spring from cylinder assembly (3) and the cylinder assembly from the press. 3. Remove nut (5) from rod assembly (4). Remove rod assembly (4) from cylinder assembly (3). 4. Remove piston assembly (6) from the cylinder assembly. 5. Remove seals (8) and (9) from piston (7). 6. Remove seal assembly (10) from the cylinder.Assemble Parking Brake Chamber
1. Install seal assembly (1) in cylinder housing (2). The outer seal is square shoulder, and the inside seal is an O-ring seal. 2. Install wiper seal (5) and O-ring seal (4) on piston (3). 3. Install piston assembly (6) in the cylinder housing. 4. Put rod assembly (7) in the cylinder housing, and install nut (8). 5. Put cylinder housing (11) and spring (10) in position on a press. Install support cover (9) in the cylinder housing with a press and tool (A).END BY:a. install parking brake chamber
