3304 Engine Shown1. Drain the coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or disposal.2. Disconnect the exhaust system from the turbocharger.3. On 3306 TA Engines, remove the pipe that goes between the turbocharger and aftercooler. On other engines, loosen the clamps, and slide hose (1) off the turbocharger.4. Loosen the clamps, and slide hose (5) off the turbocharger.5. Remove water tube assemblies (4) and (7).6. Remove oil tube assemblies (2) and (6).7. The weight of the turbocharger may exceed 23 kg (50 lb). Use two persons or a hoist to remove it. Remove nuts (3), the turbocharger and gasket from the exhaust manifold.8. Remove the studs from the exhaust manifold if they are loose or damaged.Install Turbocharger
3304 Engine Shown1. If the studs were removed, put 5P-3931 Anti-Seize Compound on the studs, and install them in the exhaust manifold. Tighten the studs to a torque of 30 5 N m (22 4 lb ft).2. Put 5P-3931 Anti-Seize Compound on the studs in the exhaust manifold. Put the gasket and turbocharger in position on the studs, and install nuts (3) that hold them. Tighten the nuts to a torque of 54 5 N m (40 4 lb ft).3. Install oil tube assemblies (2) and (6).4. Install water tube assemblies (4) and (7).5. Put hose (5) in position as shown, and tighten the two clamps that hold it.6. On 3306 TA Engines, install the pipe between the turbocharger and aftercooler. On other engines, put hose (1) in position, and tighten the clamps that hold it.7. Connect the exhaust system to the turbocharger.8. Fill the cooling system with coolant to the correct level. See the Operation & Maintenance Manual for this procedure.
