Before installation, lubricate grooves for the piston rings in the piston body with clean engine oil. After assembly, lubricate the mating surfaces of piston rings and the liner with clean engine oil.
1 1 7E-7581 Piston Ring Install the top piston ring with the side marked "UP" toward top of the piston. Orient the "RED" color stripe face to the right of the piston ring end gaps.
Clearance between the ends of the top piston ring is 0.8 0.2 mm (0.03 0.01 inch).
Width of groove in new piston body assembly for piston ring is 3.630 0.010 mm (0.1429 0.0004 inch).
Thickness is 3.450 to 3.490 mm (0.1358 to 0.1374 inch).
2 1 8N-1234 Ring Install the intermediate piston ring with the side marked "UP" toward top of the piston. Orient the "GREEN" color stripe face to the right of the piston ring end gaps.
Clearance between the ends of the intermediate piston ring is 0.8 0.2 mm (0.03 0.01 inch).
Width of groove in new piston body assembly for piston ring is 3.600 0.010 mm (0.1417 0.0004 inch).
Thickness is 3.470 0.020 mm (0.1366 0.0008 inch).
3 1 7W-2221 Ring The ends of the oil control piston ring should be at a distance of 180 degrees from the ring end gap when the oil control piston ring is assembled. The "WHITE" color stripe of oil ring spring should be visible at oil ring end gap.
Clearance between the ends of the new oil control piston ring is 0.70 0.19 mm (0.028 0.007 inch).
Width of groove in new piston body assembly for piston ring is 5.050 0.010 mm (0.1988 0.0004 inch).
Thickness is 4.954 0.019 mm (0.1950 0.0008 inch).
4 2 8N-7296 Pin Retainer Install the pin retainer with the opening towards top of the piston as shown in Illustration 1.
5 1 138-8506 Piston Pin Thoroughly lubricate the piston pin with clean engine oil before the piston pin is inserted into the piston body assembly and the rod assembly.
Outside diameter is 69.962 0.005 mm (2.7544 0.0002 inch).
Length is 137.60 0.13 mm (5.417 0.005 inch).
