Use a suitable press and tooling to install race and bearing cone (17) on the motor end of shaft (14). Install race and bearing cone (18) on impeller end of the shaft. Note: The motor end of the shaft has splines. The impeller end of the shaft is threaded.
Pack bearings (17) and (18) with Tool (G). Apply Tool (G) to all surfaces of shaft (14) that comes in contact with the seals.

Install snap ring (16) using Tool (D). Insert shaft (14) into shaft housing (3) .

Install motor end shaft seal (15) using Tool (F) over shaft (14) .Note: Lubricate motor end shaft seal (15) with Tool (G) before installation.Note: Illustration demonstrates motor end shaft seal (15) and motor end shaft seal plate (24) installed.

Install the O-ring on motor end shaft seal plate (24). Install the motor end shaft seal plate into the shaft housing (3) .Note: Motor end shaft seal plate (24) also serves as a grease access for the motor end bearing. The motor end shaft seal plate has a notch (25) on one side. This notch allows grease from grease nipple (26) to travel into the bearings and shaft (14) while these compounds are in the shaft housing. Align the notch with the grease nipple when installing the motor end shaft seal plate.

Install snap ring (13) using Tool (C) .

Position seal plate (12) .

Use Tool (H) on threads of studs.
Fasten four nuts (11) .

Install impeller seal (20) using Tool (F).

Install spring (9) and install washer (10) .Note: Washer (10) and spring (9) are secured with impeller (8) .

Attach Tool (B) to shaft (14). Secure Tool (B) to prevent the shaft from rotating.
Install impeller (8) .Note: Impeller (8) rotates on shaft (14) clockwise. Quickly rotate the impeller by hand. Continue rotating the impeller until the impeller seats.
Apply Tool (H) to the threads of bolt (5) .
Install one spacer (7), one washer (6), and one bolt (5) .
Tighten bolt (5) to a torque of 68 N m (50 lb ft).

Install shaft housing (3) onto impeller housing (4) .Note: Gasket between the shaft housing (3) and the impeller housing (4) .Note: Use a suitable lifting device to lift shaft housing (3). The shaft housing weighs approximately 86 kg (190 lb).Note: Use a suitable lifting device to move impeller housing (4). The shaft housing weighs approximately 52 kg (114 lb).

Apply Tool (H) to the threads of bolts (2) .
Tighten 12 bolts (2) to a torque of 136 N m (100 lb ft).
Install lubrication hose (1) .Note: Use a suitable lifting device to move the water pump. The water pump weighs approximately 138 kg (304 lb).End By: Install the water pump. Refer to Remove and Install, "Water Pump - Remove and Install".
