Removal Procedure
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
When servicing or repairing electric power generation equipment:Make sure the unit is off-line (disconnected from utility and/or other generators power service), and either locked out or tagged DO NOT OPERATE. Remove all fuses.

Remove bolts (1). Remove cover (2) from the cylinder head.

Disconnect fuel injection lines (3) at fuel injection nozzles (4).
Disconnect fuel injection lines (3) at fuel injection pump (5).
Remove fuel injection lines (3). Installation Procedure
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

Connect fuel injection lines (3) at fuel injection nozzles (4). Tighten the nut to 30 N m (22 lb ft).
Connect the fuel injection lines at fuel injection pump (5). Tighten the nut to 30 N m (22 lb ft).
Remove the air from the fuel system. Refer to Operations and Maintenance Manual, "Fuel System - Prime".

Position cover (2) on the cylinder head. Install bolts (1). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 9 N m (80 lb in).
