1. Position drain plug (1) as shown.2. Remove the plug and drain the oil from the final drives. The capacity of the final drive is 216 liters (57 gallons). 3. Remove the six nuts from cover (2). Install two 1/2 - 13 NC forcing screws in the cover. Install link bracket (A) on the cover and fasten a lifting device to the link bracket. Use the forcing screws to remove the cover. The weight of the cover is 39 kg (85 lb). Remove the seal from the cover. 4. Install a 1/2 - 13 NC forged eyebolt (4) in the end of drive axle (3). Pull the axle from the final drive until a hoist can be fastened to it. It may be necessary to move the machine forward or backward a small amount if the axle does not come out.5. Remove drive axle (3) from the final drive. The weight of the axle is 108 kg (240 lb). 6. Remove ring (6), gear (5) and spacer (7) from the axle. The following steps are for the installation of the drive axle.7. Install spacer (7), gear (5) and ring (6) on the axle.8. Attach a hoist to drive axle (3) and put it in position in the final drive. It may be necessary to move the machine slightly to align the gear teeth on the drive axle with the gear teeth in the final drive.9. Turn the notches in the three shafts on the final drive towards the outside of the carrier so that the cover may be installed.10. Install new seal on the cover. Fasten link bracelet (A) to the cover and a lifting device. Put cover (2) in position and install the six nuts that hold it.11. Install drain plug (1) and fill the final drive with oil to the correct level. See the Operation And Maintenance Manual, Form No. SEBU5872-04.
