Prime the pump by backfilling through the sea water heat exchanger or through the customer connection the pump inlet. Do NOT rotate the pump sections. After the initial priming, subsequent self priming is accomplished by using the water captured in the pump:* Rotating the pump sections downward REDUCES the water level captured in the pump and makes priming SLOWER.* A gooseneck on the inlet will REDUCE the priming time by keeping the pump full of water, provided there is a siphon break.* By rotating the pump sections relative to each other, the ports (openings for the inlets and outlets to each impeller chamber) also move relative to each other, AWAY from their optimal positions.* As the ports move away from their optimal position, the water flow at a given speed is DECREASED.Inspect the suction connection seal. Any entry of air into the suction side will greatly REDUCE the priming capability and water flow.
