This Program must be administered either before or after failure.In either case the decision whether to apply the Program is made by the dealer. When reporting the repair, use "PS45920" as the Part Numberand "7755" as the Group Number. If administered before failure, use "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and "T" as the SIMS Description code.If administered after failure, use "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.
The information supplied in this service letter may not be valid after the termination date of this program.Do not perform the work outlined in this Service Letter after the termination date without first contacting your Caterpillar product analyst.

PROBLEM
The existing duplex check valve rubber can separate on certain 3508B, 3512B, 3512C, 3516B, and 3516C Marine Engines. If the existing duplex check valve fails it can create soft debris in lube system

Before Failure
Replace 2W9209 Duplex valve during regular scheduled maintenance or overhaul
After Failure
If the full rubber seal is not found, perform a 9 point inspection (filters, shuttle valve cavity, upper cover, remove 2W1053 plug and inspect distribution block, rear distribution block, main gallery feeder, cam gallery feeders, piston cooling jets, cam gallery plug) using borescope where possible.
