Transmission Neutralizer Control Valve
When the left brake pedal is pushed, pressure oil from the brake control valve comes into the transmission neutralizer control valve through inlet (2). The oil goes by valve spool (1) and out to the valve at the transmission through port (3). Oil also goes through passage (8), orifice (11) to fill the chamber between the plug (9) and the valve spool (14). This moves the spool (14) to the right to cover the inlet (12) for the return oil from the brake control valve.
TRANSMISSION NEUTRALIZER CONTROL VALVE (Valve Spools in BRAKE ACTIVATED Position With the Left Brake Pedal Pushed)
1. Spool for transmission neutralizer control valve. 2. Inlet for pressure oil. 3. Outlet to transmission neutralizer valve. 4. Cover. 5. Spring. 6. Seal. 7. Nut. 8. Passage. 9. Plug. 10. Spring. 11. Orifice. 12. Inlet for return oil from the brake control valve. 13. Outlet for return oil to tank. 14. Spool for making slower oil pressure reduction at the wheel brakes.Releasing the brake pedal permits spring (5) to push the spool (1) to the left to close port (2). Oil from the transmission neutralizer valve goes through port (3) and on to tank through outlet (13). With less oil pressure in the chamber between the plug (9) and spool (14), the spring (10) moves spool (14) to the left. Because orifice (11) is small, the flow of oil from the chamber between plug (9) and spool (14) is slow. This causes a slow movement of spool (14) to the left and opens inlet (12) slowly. Brake return oil comes through inlet (12) and back to tank through outlet (13). The slow movement of spool (14) is enough to permit the transmission to start to engage before the brakes are completely released. A check valve in the hydraulic tank prevents a reverse flow of oil through outlet (13).
TRANSMISSION NEUTRALIZER CONTROL VALVE (BRAKE RELEASE Position)
1. Spool for the transmission neutralizer control valve. 2. Inlet for pressure oil. 3. Outlet to transmission neutralizer valve. 4. Cover. 5. Spring. 6. Seal. 7. Nut. 8. Passage. 9. Plug. 10. Spring. 11. Orifice. 12. Inlet for return oil from the brake control valve. 13. Outlet for return oil to tank. 14. Spool for making slower oil pressure reduction at the wheel brakes. A. .06 in. (1.5 mm) dimension between face of body and seal case.Brake Operation
Oil activated disc-type brakes are at all four wheels. The heat from friction of the brakes is removed by the oil in the final drive housing and brake housing. The brake anchor (3) is attached to the axle housing or frame assembly. It does not turn. There are splines on the inside of the anchor (3). Splines on the outside circumference of the plates (2) fit in the splines in the anchor (3). The hub (5) has splines on the outside circumference which fit in the splines on the inside circumference of the discs (4). The hub (5) and discs (4) turn with the wheel assembly
