Typical screen that shows the Transmission/Chassis ECM has been selected in Electronic Technician (ET) software.
The Caterpillar Electronic Technician Software is equipped with a feature for calibrating the Transmission/Chassis system. The calibration mode is accessed by connecting ET to the vehicle. Select the Transmission/Chassis ECM. This is shown in illustration 1.

Typical screen to set Implement Control Lever Calibrations
Once the Transmission/Chassis ECM is selected, the calibration procedures are accessed through the "Service Menu". Select "Calibrations" from the menu. Then, select "Implement Control Lever Calibrations". This is shown in illustration 2.The Transmission/Chassis ECM seeks the full ranges of implement control during the calibration of the joystick. This calibration changes the default range setting to the actual range setting. The Transmission/Chassis ECM records these motions in memory. These ranges are used until the ECM is replaced or the calibration procedure is performed again. Calibration of the joystick may be performed independently of the calibration of the electro-hydraulic control valve. Recalibration of the electro-hydraulic control valve does not require the joystick to be recalibrated.Note: The Electronic Technician screens refer to the joystick as the "Implement Control Lever".

Select the proper calibration. Select the required boxes. This is shown in illustration 3. In order to calibrate the ejector control, select "Ejector Lever Calibration" (2).

The ET screen will instruct the technician to perform actions at location (4) and location (5). This is shown in illustration 4. The instructions are listed below.
The vehicle parking brakes must be set.
The engine speed should be 0 RPM.
After the initial conditions are satisfied, select the "NEXT" button on the ET screen.
Release the joystick so that the joystick is in the neutral detent position.
Select the "NEXT" button on the ET screen.

Move the joystick to the full Forward Ejector position (1). While you hold the ejector in this position press the cushion-hitch button. Then release the cushion-hitch button (2).
Move the joystick to the full Ejector Reverse position (3). While you hold the ejector in this position, press the cushion-hitch button. Then release the cushion-hitch button (2).

The ET software will then display a screen that indicates the status of the calibration. Check for either of the messages that are listed below if the calibration fails:
"Calibration value too large"
"Calibration value too low" If the calibration is not successful, see Troubleshooting, "Joystick Calibration Is Not Successful".
