Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the alternator. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Alternator - Remove and Install".
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Drain the coolant. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (DEAC) - Change" or refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Extended Life Coolant - Change" for your system.

Disconnect tube assembly (2), if equipped. Disconnect tube assembly (3) .
Loosen the clamps on hoses (1) and (6) .
Remove hose (6) from the water pump.Note: Hose (1) can not be removed from the water pump until the water pump is removed.
Remove bolts (5) and mounting block (4) .

Remove bolts (7) and water pump (8) from the engine.Installation Procedure
Note: Check the O-ring seals for wear or for damage. Replace the components, if necessary.

Install hose (1) on water pump (8) as you place the water pump in position. Install bolts (7) .
Place hoses (6) and (1) in position and tighten the clamps.
Connect tube assembly (3). Connect tube assembly (2), if equipped.
Install mounting block (4) with bolts (5) .
Fill the coolant. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (DEAC) - Change" or refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Extended Life Coolant - Change" for your system.End By: Install the alternator.
