START BY:a) remove final drive case, gear and hub 1. Remove ring (1) and pin from nut (2) on the sprocket shaft. 2. Loosen nut (2) with tool (A) until the nut is approximately 1/8" (3.2 mm) away from the steering clutch case surface. 3. Fasten a hoist to tooling (B) and put it in position on the sprocket shaft and steering clutch case as shown. Loosen the sprocket shaft with tooling (B). Remove the spanner nut (2) from the sprocket shaft. 4. Remove tooling (B). Fasten a hoist to sprocket shaft (3) and remove. The weight of the sprocket shaft is 90 lb. (41 kg).Install Sprocket Shaft
1. Fasten a hoist on sprocket shaft (1) and put it in position in the steering clutch case. Install spanner nut (2) and ring on the sprocket shaft under the steering clutch case. Do not tighten the spanner nut at this time. 2. Fasten a hoist to tooling (A) and install it on the sprocket shaft and the steering clutch case. Install the sprocket shaft with a force of 15 to 25 ton (135 to 225 kn). 3. Tighten spanner nut (2) with tool (B) to a torque of 650 50 lb. ft. (880 70 N m) while the force of 15 to 25 ton (135 to 225 kn) is kept on the sprocket shaft. 4. Install holder assembly (3), retainer (4), shims and nut (5) on the sprocket shaft. Tighten nut (5) to a torque of 500 to 600 lb. ft. (680 to 810 N m).5. Measure the distance (X) from the inside face of the holder assembly to the line of connection of the steering clutch case and the final drive case. The distances (X) must be:a) 11.065 .057 in. (281.05 1.45 mm) for 60 in. (152.4 cm) gauge track.b) 18.065 .057 in. (458.85 1.45 mm) for 74 in. (188.0 cm) gauge track.c) 21.565 .057 in. (547.75 1.45 mm) for the Low Ground Pressure Tractor. 6. Loosen nut (5). Install tooling (C) and loosen the holder assembly. Remove nut (5) and holder assembly from the sprocket shaft. 7. Drill a .315 in. (8.0 mm) hole through one of the grooves in nut (2) and .630 in. (16.0 mm) deep in the sprocket shaft. Install pin (7) in the nut and shaft and install ring (6) on the nut.END BY:a) install final drive case, gear and hub
