Some components are removed for clarity. Make sure that the following conditions are met when measuring dimension (A).
Rails (1) must contact all rollers (2) the length of the machine. Grouser (3) must be directly under the center of front idler (4) before measuring the grouser raise height (A). Track (5) must be smooth and level between the front idler and the front bottom roller. Grousers (6) under bottom rollers must contact the smooth and level floor.
Note: Before measuring grouser raise height (A), make sure that all lower grouser tips are contacting the surface AND all bottom rollers are contacting undercarriage rails.
Move the machine in reverse until a track shoe grouser is directly below the center of the front idler shaft.Note: Moving the machine in reverse before measuring the grouser raise height is important. This action prevents undercarriage back bending between the idler and front bottom roller.
Measure grouser height (A) from the flat ground surface to the grouser tip that is centered below the track idler shaft.
Maintain the grouser height (rise) to the following dimensions.
Grouser height (A) at the front IdlersMinimum - 6 mm (0.24 inch)Maximum - 10 mm (0.40 inch)
Tip. Measure rise height with a shim or plate of a known thickness underneath the track shoe. (An example is an allen wrench.) If you measure with a tape measure from the ground to the edge of the grouser tip (3), the measurement will be less accurate. The rise height will often appear higher than the height really is.Adjust
Note: The idler block centerline and the shaft bore centerline are offset. At factory install or a new undercarriage install, the idler block is assembled to the yoke with the large portion of the idler block facing downward. The large portion of the idler block is 57 mm (2.24 inch)
If the grouser height is not acceptable, replace the shims with a new set of replacement shims or reverse the shims above and below the idler bearing block. Shim position and block orientation are designed to allow for switching or inverting during the life of the undercarriage.Note: The factory shims are 6 mm (0.24 inch) and 14 mm (0.55 inch). The service shims are 9 mm (0.35 inch) and 11 mm (0.43 inch).Note: Flipping the idler bearing blocks provides 8 mm (0.31 inch) of idler height adjustment.

Bottom factory shim 6 mm (0.24 inch)
Top replacement service shim 11 mm (0.44 inch)
Bottom replacement service shim 9 mm (0.35 inch)Note: The shims around each idler must be balanced so that the idler is centered without much freeplay. This action allows the idler to remain centered in the track roller frame. Shimming of the right idler and the left idler is done independently.

The sum of the thicknesses of the top shim (A) and bottom shim (B) is to total 20 mm (0.79 inch). That sum is 6 mm +14 mm (0.24 inch + 0.55 inch) or 9 mm + 11 mm (0.35 inch + 0.44 inch).Fine-Tuning the
