Caterpillar is aware of this problem, but an interim repair has not been defined.
Do not operate or work on this machine unless you have read and understand the instructions and warnings in the Operation and Maintenance Manuals. Failure to follow the instructions or heed the warnings could result in injury or death. Contact your Cat dealer for replacement manuals. Proper care is your responsibility.
In the event of failure, modify the torque spec of leg housing to center housing bolts for both sides. Use Loctite 243 thread locker on all leg housing to center housing bolts. Tighten to a torque of 270 40 N m (199 30 lb ft) with additional 120 degree +/-10 degree turn. In addition, use improved Loctite 5188 sealant with activator/primer SF 7240 or SF 7649.Allow 24 hours for cure time before filling axle with oil or running axle.
