Procedure To Install Retrofit Harness
1. Disconnect the bulkhead connector between the transmission gear position sensor harness assembly and the transmission chassis harness assembly. Remove the former gear position sensor (9W-1428, 8T-8805, or 126-7895) and 6T-4958 Harness Assembly2. Install the new 131-5393 or 139-9473 Position Sensor Group and 131-8194 Harness Assembly.3. Install the 127-4872 Harness Assembly. Connect one end of the "T" portion of the retrofit harness assembly to the bulkhead connector of the transmission position sensor harness assembly that was installed in step 2. Connect the other end to the transmission chassis harness assembly connector.4. Use the 7K-1181 Tie Wraps to secure the harness assembly to a transmission chassis harness clip, close to the "T" portion of the harness assembly. Make sure the weight of the connectors is well supported.5. Route the harness assembly (single lead) along the transmission chassis harness assembly to the scraper's transmission switching control group. Secure the new harness to the transmission chassis harness assembly using tie-wraps every 305 mm (12 in).6. Approximately 152 mm (6 in) from the transmission switching control group's connector, splice into the 126-PK wire (which goes to pin 1). Crimp and solder the splice and cover with heat shrink tube.7. The excess length of harness may be cut off or bundled with a tie wrap around the transmission chassis harness assembly.
