Sudden movement of the machine or release of oil under pressure can cause serious injury to persons on or near the machine.To prevent possible injury, perform the procedure that follows before testing and adjusting the hydraulic system.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide"for tools and supplies to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations.

Disconnect one lubrication line at a bearing.
Start the engine.
After about 10 minutes, automatic lubrication pump (1) is activated.Test Procedure
Lubricant flow through primary lubrication distribution valve as (2) actuates cycle indicator pin (3) for a visual inspection of proper operation. Cycle indicator pin (3) should be moving in and out while the lubricant pump is on.
Lubricant flow through secondary lubrication distribution valve assemblies (5) also actuates cycle indicator pins (not shown) for a visual inspection of proper operation. The cycle indicator pins for secondary lubrication distribution valve assemblies (5) should also be moving in and out while the lubricant pump is on.
Wait until automatic lubrication pump (1) turns off.
Stop the engine.
Lubricant should have been ejected from the disconnected lube line. Reconnect the lubrication line.
