Remove the panel for the control system and the support bracket. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Control System - Remove and Install".
Remove the air cleaner housing. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Air Cleaner Housing - Remove and Install".
When servicing or repairing electric power generation equipment:Make sure the unit is off-line (disconnected from utility and/or other generators power service), and either locked out or tagged DO NOT OPERATE. Remove all fuses.
Disconnect batteries before performance of any service work.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
The engine can have the ability to auto start. Ensure that the power supply is isolated before any service or repairs is performed.
Turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position.
Turn the air supply at the air reservoir to the OFF position. Ensure that the air pressure is drained from the starting air system.

Remove bolts (1) and remove cover (2) from the terminal box (3).
Disconnect the customer connection from the generator. Temporarily install cover (2) to terminal box (3). Note: Mark the position of all straps, cable assemblies, and harness assemblies for assembly purposes.
Remove bolts (6) and remove cable (5) from mounting foot (7).
Remove cable straps (4) and disconnect engine harness assembly from the generator.

If the engine is installed with a twin wall fuel injection lines remove the alarm tank. Disconnected tube assembly (9) from alarm tank (8).
Remove bolts and nuts (11) and place alarm tank (8) away from bracket (10).

Remove blanking device (12) and blanking device (13) from lifting eyes on generator (14).
Attach Tooling (B) onto Tooling (A) and attach Tooling (A) to a suitable lifting device.
Attach Tooling (A) onto generator (14). The weight of generator (14) is approximately 625 kg (1378 lb). Note: Ensure the correct center of gravity of the generator.
Engines that are keel cooled and sea water cooled remove bolts (15) from the generator mountings.
Engines with a radiator cooled systems. Remove nuts and bolts (15) from generator mountings (7). Sufficiently loosen nuts and bolts on the front engine mounting.
Raise the generator by 40 mm (1.6 inch) and support the weight of the engine with suitable wooden block under the flywheel housing (16).

Remove bolts (17). Remove screen (18).
Remove the locking nuts and washers (20) from drive plate (21) to flywheel (22).
Remove bolts and spring washers (23) and remove locking nuts and washers (19) from generator (14) to the flywheel housing.
Slide generator (14) away from the engine flywheel housing and remove the generator.
