Parts stock action needed PRODUCT IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM FOR INSPECTING AND POSSIBLY REPLACING THE TURBINE CLAMP PLATES ON THE TURBOCHARGER ON CERTAIN C9 PETROLEUM ENGINES

This Program must be administered as soon as possible.When reporting the repair, use "PI10895" as the Part Number and "7751" as the Group Number, "56" as the Warranty ClaimDescription Code and "T" as the SIMS Description Code.
Exception: If the repair is done after failure, use "PI10895" as the Part Number, "7751" as the Group Number,"96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.
When submitting claim for Parts Stock Action, Use the appropriate 99Z as the s/n, the appropriate Service Letter Program Number as the Part number in the Part Causing Failure field, "7751" as the Group Number, "56" as the Description Code.
PROBLEM
Certian C9 Petroleum Engines were built with 329-3713, 329-3714, 329-3715, and 318-6613 Turbochargers may have been assembled inappropriately with 3 piece turbine 120-2243 Clamp Plates. These engines should have 2 piece 3317528/">331-7528 Clamp Plates as the 3 piece clamp plates may create hot spots on the turbo that could be possible ignition sources. These hotspots may, in conjunction with other factors or circumstances, result in a risk of personal injury or death.

Inspect all 329-3713, 329-3714, 329-3715, 318-6613 Turbochargers in dealer parts stock. Turbochargers with the 3 piece clamp plates are non-conforming and must be removed from dealer parts stock and returned.
