Troubleshooting Methods
Many of the connections between harnesses are made with rubber connectors. If these connections are not tight, they can be the cause of electrical problems, either permanent or intermittent (come and go). Make sure the rubber connectors are fastened tight before other tests are made. The 5P7277 Voltage Tester can be used to check if voltage is present in a circuit. It can not measure voltage. The 8S4627 Circut Tester can be used to check circuits without voltage for continuity. The light in the 8S4627 Circuit Tester is dim (not much light) with a 10 ohm resistance in the test circuit. The light is brighter (more light) with less resistance in the test circuit.
5P7277 VOLTAGE TESTERThe 6V3030 Digital Multimeter can be used to measure voltage, current, or resistance. It can also be used to check diodes. The instructions that come with the multimeter tell how to use it in these different tests.Failure of an electrical component can cause or be caused by the failure of one or more other components. Always find the cause of a failure of an electrical component before a replacement of the component is made.

8S4627 CIRCUIT (CONTINUITY) TESTERBlock Diagram
The block diagram of the 980C electrical system shows the flow of electricity to the different parts of the system. It does not show all components, wires and connections. The block diagram shows which components work together. The fuses shown in the block diagram are on a fuse panel under the instrument panel. The dashed (broken) lines in the block diagram are an indication of a control connection, for example a switch that controls a relay. There is a 4V5083 Diode Board under the instrument panel. Parallel connections from all of the indicator lights go through this panel. The diode board controls the test of the indicator lights, the main warning light, and the warning horn. It also controls under what conditions the main warning light, or the main warning light and warning horn turn on. The block diagram shows how diodes are used to separate the different indicator circuits but it can not show all of the different controls that are made. Make reference to the individual circuit descriptions for a more exact description.Codes And Abbreviations
Use the table that follows for identification of wire and connector colors in the schematics. Two colors divided by a line are an indication or a wire with a stripe (one color with a line along it of another color). R/LT GR is a red wire with a light green stripe. Some harnesses are connected together by rubber connectors that fasten together (one part of one connector goes into the other connector). The rubber connector color and location are shown as follows: Component And Connector Locations
The location of some of the connections shown in the Schematics are:REAR OF CAB - under the cover and below the rear cab window there are six different color rubber connectors. Each of the connectors can have as many as eight different wires that go through it.RELAY
