(5) Outlet The oil filters for the transmission are fastened to the front frame in the transmission compartment of the machine. Oil sampling valve (3) is located on the transmission oil filter base.Oil from the transmission charging pump section flows to the transmission oil filter assembly through inlet (2). The transmission oil filter assembly has two filter elements.During normal operation, the oil flows through the elements. The oil flows from the elements to outlets (4) and (5). The oil that flows through outlet (4) is sent to the torque converter lockup clutch and solenoid valve where it is used to engaged the torque converter lockup clutch. This oil also flows to the torque converter updrive gears for lubrication.Oil that flows through outlet (5) is sent to the transmission hydraulic control. This oil is used to engage the proper clutches in the transmission. Some of the oil will flow from the transmission hydraulic control to the torque converter. This oil will be used as the hydraulic coupling during torque converter drive. Oil that leaves the torque converter is sent to the power train oil cooler. The oil will flow from the power train oil cooler to the transmission for lubrication. The filter elements stop any debris that is in the oil.If the filter element becomes full of debris, the restriction to the flow of oil causes a pressure increase inside the filters. The pressure oil causes a bypass valve to open. The oil then flows past the open bypass valve and to the power train system. When the oil does not go through the filter elements, the debris in the oil will cause damage to other components in the power train system.Use correct maintenance in order to make sure that the filter elements do not become full of debris. If the filter elements are full of debris, the flow of clean oil to the power train system is stopped.
