Remove bolts (3) and yoke (4) . Discard bolts (3) .

Remove bolt (5) from yoke (6) .

Use Tooling (B) to remove yoke (6) from the drive shaft.

Remove bearing block (9) by sliding bearing block (9) from drive shaft (8) .

Remove bolts (10) from yoke (11) .
Use two people to carefully remove drive shaft (8) . The weight of drive shaft (8) is approximately 34 kg (75 lb).Installation Procedure

When the rear drive shaft is installed, it must be installed in phase with the rear axle assembly yoke. The rear drive shaft must be installed in phase with the center drive shaft. Serious component damage could occur. Be certain that all the joint groups, all the yokes, and all the lubricating fittings are aligned.

Use two people to carefully install drive shaft (8) . The weight of drive shaft (8) is approximately 34 kg (75 lb).
The U-joints must be fully seated before torque is applied to bolts (10) . Use Tooling (C) in order to seat each of the bearing caps into the yoke. Remove Tooling (C) and install new bolts (10) .
Tighten bolts (10) in a crisscross pattern to a torque of 120 20 N m (90 15 lb ft). Repeat this Step a second time.

Install bearing block (9) by sliding bearing block (9) over drive shaft (8) .
Install bolts (7) .
Apply Tooling (D) to drive shaft (8) .

Install yoke (6) .
Apply Tooling (E) to bolt (5) and install bolt (5) .

Install new bolts (3) and yoke (4) .

Use Tooling (A) and suitable blocking in order to position guard assembly (1) , as shown. The weight of guard assembly (1) is approximately 25 kg (55 lb).
Install bolts (2) .End By: Install the center drive shaft. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Drive Shaft (Center) - Remove and Install".
