Remove Cylinder Head Assembly
start by: a) remove exhaust manifoldb) remove intake manifoldc) remove rocker shaft and push rods 1. Remove fuel injection lines (1) and install protection caps. 2. Remove valve cover base (2).3. Disconnect water line (4) and vent line (5) from water manifold. 4. Remove bolts and front half of water manifold (3). Weight of front half of water manifold is 65 lb. (29 kg).5. Remove nuts and washers that hold cylinder head to cylinder block.6. Install two 3/8"-16NC forged eyebolts in cylinder head. Fasten a hoist to head as shown. 7. Remove cylinder head assembly (6) from cylinder block. Weight of cylinder head assembly is 280 lb. (82 kg).8. Removal of rear cylinder head is the same as above except for Step 3.Install Cylinder Head Assembly
1. Be sure top of cylinder block and bottom of cylinder head are clean and dry.2. Put clean oil on lobes of camshaft and in oil pockets.3. Install the two gaskets and water seals. 4. Put cylinder head assembly (1) in place on cylinder block.5. Put 4S9416 Anti-Seize Compound on threads of studs and nuts for cylinder head. Install the washers and nuts. Be sure head is in place on dowels before tightening nuts. 6. Tighten nuts as follows. Tighten nuts 5, 7 on front head and 6, 8 on rear head with tooling (A). See Form SEHS7150 for correct torque value when using torque wrench extension.1 Tighten all nuts in number order to 180 10 lb. ft. (247 14 N m).2 Tighten all nuts in number order to 300 10 lb. ft. (410 14 N m).3 Again tighten all nuts in number order (hand torque only) to 300 10 lb. ft. (410 14 N m). 7. Install water manifold (2) and bolts. Connect water line (4) and vent line (3) to water manifold. 8. Install valve cover base (5) and fuel injection lines (6). Tighten nuts for fuel injection lines to 30 5 lb. ft. (40 7 N m).9. Installation of rear cylinder head is same as above, except second part of Step 7.end by: a) install rocker shaft and push rodsb) install intake manifoldc) install exhaust manifold
