Reference Elevation Mode
Proceed through the instructions that follow for benching the system and in order to set the reference elevations in Reference Elevation Operating Mode.Using a Level Laser
Level the machine's cutting edge.
Place the blade tip on the benchmark.Make sure that you do not move the benchmark. If necessary, put the blade tip next to the benchmark.Note: If the benchmark is well above or well below the track height, place the cutting edge at ground level and measure the distance from the cutting edge to the benchmark. Enter this distance as the reference elevation. In order to achieve a finished grade you will need to work until the reference elevation on the display reads 0.000.

Benching in Reference Elevation Operating Mode (level laser) (1) Left (center) mast is on-grade (2) benchmark
Press the "ESC/Left Reset" button in order to start a search for the laser beam on the left (center) mast. The left (center) electric mast moves automatically until the grade indicators on the left side of the display show that the left (center) mast is on-grade. Illustration 1 shows the process for benching the machine with a level laser.
The elevation of the benchmark must be entered into the display. This value is called the reference elevation. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Configuration" for more information about setting the reference elevation.Using a Sloping Laser
Level the machine's cutting edge.
Place the cutting edge under the right mast on the benchmark.Make sure that you do not move the benchmark. If necessary, put the blade tip next to the benchmark.Note: If the benchmark is well above or well below the track height place the cutting edge at ground level and measure the distance from the cutting edge to the benchmark. Enter this distance as the reference elevation. In order to achieve a finished grade you will need to work until the reference elevation on the display reads 0.000.

Benching in Reference Elevation Operating Mode using a sloping laser (3) Left (center) mast is on-grade (4) benchmark
Press the "ESC/Left Reset" button in order to start a search for the laser beam. The left (center) electric mast moves automatically until the left (center) laser receiver is on-grade. Illustration 2 shows the process for benching the machine on the left (center) mast.
