Removal Procedure
Start By:
Connect the steering frame lock.
Remove the valve bank.
Remove the front belly pan.
Drain fuel.
Lift eyes or tank can fail when lifting tank containing fluids resulting in possible personal injury. Drain tank of all fluids before lifting.
Personal injury or death may result from failure to adhere to the following procedures.Fuel leaked or spilled onto hot surfaces or electrical components can cause a fire.Clean up all leaked or spilled fuel. Do not smoke while working on the fuel system.Turn the disconnect switch OFF or disconnect the battery when changing fuel filters.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Remove hoses (1).

Attach Tooling (A) to fuel tank (4). The weight of fuel tank (4) is approximately 227 kg (500 lb).

Remove upper mount bolts (5).

Remove lower mount bolts (6). Remove fuel tank (4).Installation Procedure
Install fuel tank (4) in the reverse order of removal.
