Machine Serial Number Configure
Note: To configure the machine serial number Cat ET 2014C or newer is required.Note: The serial number for a non-Caterpillar machine can be any alphanumeric characters up to 17 characters long such as "147433789DBS".

(1) Caterpillars World Manufacturing Code (characters 1 - 3) (2) Machine description (characters 4 - 8) (3) Check character (character 9) (4) Machine Indicator Section (MIS) or Product Sequence Number (characters 10 - 17). These characters were previously referred to as the Serial Number.The PLE640 system will automatically send a registration message to Product Link Web when installed on a piece of equipment. The product link device will send a registration message in order to be subscribed in Product Link Web based on the engine serial number. The PLE640 system offers the option for the equipment to be subscribed under a different name or serial number. Use the following steps in order to change the equipment name, serial number, or the serial number to a different Caterpillar serial number:
Connect to the equipment service port connector using your Com Adapter.
Choose the Telematics ECM.

Open the configurations screen by choosing "Service" and then "Configuration". Refer to Illustration 4.

The machine serial number will show up in the "ECM Identification Parameters" and will be a default. In the "New Value" field enter the serial number of the equipment. Refer to Illustration 5.The PLE640 equipment will automatically generate a new registration message. Along with the new registration message the equipment will be subscribed in Product Link Web based off the machine serial number entered.Note: For equipment not appearing in Product Link Web, verify the network manager ECM can be viewed by using a Com Adapter on the equipment service port connector. The equipment will need to be detected on the CDL or CAN data link in order to appear on Product Link Web.Engine Serial Number Configure
If a "Product ID" or "Machine Serial Number" are not configured by using Cat ET, the PLE601 Network Manager will attempt to detect a Caterpillar Engine ECM on CDL or CAN/J1939. If an Engine Serial Number is detected, the PLE601 Network Manager will automatically create, and send a registration message to the "User Interface". The Engine Serial Number field cannot be configured, it will only be set to what the Network Manager detects on the datalinks.Maintenance Mode

"Maintenance Mode" ScreenThe maintenance mode is used to prevent diagnostic and event messages from being reported when performing maintenance on the machine. This value should be reverted to "Off" after the servicing is complete. This value also reverts to "Off" after 12 calendar hours in order to ensure proper operation (long term) of the system. If an event or diagnostic does occur when the maintenance mode is active, the event is ignored until the maintenance mode is turned off. Remember to clear any diagnostic codes that were created during maintenance.
