Connections of the EH Pump Displacement Sensor 2This diagnostic code is associated with the EH Pump Displacement Sensor 2. The position sensor is a PWM sensor that operates at a frequency of approximately 500 100 Hz. The position sensor sends a PWM input signal to the ECM. The duty cycle of the signal will vary from 8% to 92%. The value of the sensor duty cycle is approximately 92 in the negative rotation position. The value of the sensor duty cycle is approximately 8% in the positive rotation position.The FMI 13 diagnostic code is activated when the ECM detects a sensor that requires calibration.Test Step 1. CALIBRATION
Perform the calibration procedure using the Monitoring System Display or Using Cat ET.Expected Result:The calibration procedure was performed successfully.Results:
OK - The calibration procedure was performed successfully. Resume normal machine operationSTOP
NOT OK - The calibration was not successful.Repair: Repeat the calibration procedure for the sensor.If the second calibration procedure is not successful, replace the EH Pump Displacement Sensor 2.After replacement of the sensor, the sensor must be calibrated. Perform the calibration procedure for the new sensor. If the problem is still present after replacement and calibration of the new sensor, the ECM may have failed.Prior to replacing an ECM, contact the Technical Communicator at your dealership for possible consultation with Caterpillar. This consultation may effect repair time. If the cause of the diagnostic code is not found, replace the ECM. Refer to the Testing and Adjusting, "Electronic Control Module (ECM) - Replace" section in this manual for additional information.STOP
