Cavitation and corrosion occur when the systems are not utilizing the pressure cap and/or are not using a glycol-based coolant.Note: Ensure that a pressure cap is installed on the heat exchanger frame. For systems using a customer installed head tank, utilizing a pressure cap on the head tank is still necessary unless the head ensures minimum 97 kPa (14 psi) at the heat exchanger frame.Note: Ensure that cooling system is operating with minimum 30% glycol-based coolant and specified corrosion inhibitor. Extended Life Coolant (ELC) is recommended as this coolant provides reduced maintenance. See Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU6251, "Cat Commercial Diesel Engine Fluids Recommendations " for more information. A level 2 coolant sample, is required with any claims in order to receive warranty consideration.
