Diesel engine exhaust contains products of combustion which may cause personal injury.Always start and operate the engine in a well ventilated area, and, if in an enclosed area, vent the exhaust to the outside.
Personal injury or death can result from sudden machine movement.Sudden movement of the machine can cause injury to persons on or near the machine.To prevent injury or death, make sure that the area around the machine is clear of personnel and obstructions before operating the machine.
Personal injury can result from rotating and moving parts.Moving fan blades and moving parts will throw or cut any object or tool that falls or is pushed into them.Make sure no one is working on, underneath or close to an engine that is running. Make sure the area is free of personnel.
The tracks will move during the procedure. Keep all personnel away from the machine during the procedure. Severe injury or death could result if someone was caught in the moving tracks.
Note: The machine must be driven during the following test. Ensure that the test area is free of personnel and obstructions.
Drive the machine to a smooth, horizontal surface.

Move propel lever (1) to the NEUTRAL position.
Rotate speed dial (4) to the MINIMUM position.
Move parking brake switch (2) to the ON position.
Move propel mode switch (3) to the PAVE position.Note: The machine must be in PAVE mode in order to operate the screed lift system.

Move screed lift switch (5) to the RAISE position. Completely lift the screed.

Engage screed lock mechanism (6) on both sides of the machine.
Move screed lift switch (5) to the FLOAT position.Note: The screed lift switch on the inactive instrument panel must also be in the FLOAT position in order to lower the screed.
Rotate speed dial (4) to the center position.
Move parking brake switch (2) to the OFF position.Note: The parking brake switch on the inactive instrument panel must also be in the OFF position.

Move throttle control switch (7) to the HIGH IDLE position twice. For each switch actuation, hold the switch in this position for less than 1 second.
Squeeze trigger (8), and move propel lever (1) to the FORWARD position. Monitor the machine speed on the operator display.
Move propel lever (1) to the NEUTRAL position.
Move propel mode switch (3) from the PAVE position to the TRAVEL position.
Squeeze trigger (8), and move propel lever (1) to the FORWARD position. Monitor the machine speed on the operator display. Machine speed should increase significantly beyond the speed observed in Step 12.
Move propel lever (1) to the NEUTRAL position.
Move propel mode switch (3) to the PAVE position.
Move throttle control switch (7) to the LOW IDLE position.

Move engine start switch (9) to the OFF position.
If the machine does not change speed as described in Step 15, the shift solenoid or the wiring is faulty.
